Colombia has a reputation for producing mild, well-balanced coffee beans from a country with average annual coffee production of 11.5 million bags and is the third total highest in the world, after Brazil and Vietnam. Colombian coffee is one of the more unique in that much of it grows in volcanic soil at altitudes of 1,200 to 1,800 meters and in places that are free of frost but receive around 80 inches of rain a year.
