Tolima Del Rio

This lot comes to us from the small farmers of the Asociacion de Productores Agropecuarios de Santa Rosa (ASPRASAR) in therem ote region of Gaitania, Planadas. The farms span heights from 1,600 to over 2,000 meters above sea level in the Central Andes range. Micro-lots dominate the co-op, with individual family farms averaging a modest 2.5 hectares in size. The volcanic soil and sharp microclimates produce deeply complex profiles. Historically isolated by years of armed conflict, the region’s recovery has allowed these farmers to unite, gain market visibility, and share their exceptional coffees with the global market. Located between 1600-2000masl, this cooperative of 16 women and 51 men is dedicated to producing exceptional coffee. Though they have been committed to organic coffee production for many years, being part of the Regenerative Organic Alliance has enabled them to pursue further sustainability goals and ensure fairer conditions for all members by embracing a Fair Trade certification. To preserve traceability, each smallholder family maintains their own personal micro-mill. They selectively handpick cherries, depulp, ferment, and wash them using clean local streams before sun-drying the parchment on raised beds

Female empowerment is central to ASPRASAR. The organization is managed by General Manager Nini Yorfadi, and features an active Women’s Committee supporting 16 women producers who spearhead community development initiatives.
